I graduated from the University of North Dakota Law School in May of 1994 and was admitted to practice in Colorado later the same year.  From the fall of 1994 through the end of 2002, I hung out my own shingle and practiced criminal defense, military justice, dependency and neglect respondent parent defense, and firearms law as well as handling some estate planning and small corporation matters.
Following the September 11th terrorist attacks on Washington, D.C. and New York City, I joined the United States Army Judge Advocate General's Corps. I served as an Army lawyer at Fort Carson, Colorado, from December 2002 through February 2007.  In November of 2005, I deployed with my
unit to Iraq where we undertook an 11 month tour of duty. Upon completion of my active duty service obligation, I returned to civilian life and re-opened my law practice.  Today I practice much the same law as I did before I joined the service. I live with my wife, three children and two dogs in Colorado Springs.
